Indonesia Struck Earthquake Of Magnitude Of 6.7 In Talaud Islands According To NCS


Indonesia Earthquake: An earthquake of 6.7 magnitude was felt in the Talaud Islands of Indonesia on Tuesday (January 9). According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 80 km under the earth. According to Indian time, the earthquake was felt at around 2.18 in the night.

National Center for Seismology (NCS) posted on X (formerly Twitter) and informed that the epicenter of the earthquake was 80 km below the earth’s surface. These earthquake tremors were felt on Talaud Island of Indonesia. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said that strong earthquake tremors were felt in Balai Pungut, Indonesia on Thursday last week.

No report of loss of life or property
Despite the strong 6.7 magnitude earthquake that hit Indonesia, there have been no reports of any loss of life or property so far. Earthquake tremors are felt every day in Indonesia. The main reason behind this is the geographical structure of this place.

Indonesia is situated on the Ring of Fire of the Pacific Ocean, which is why earthquakes keep happening there. The Ring of Fire connects the Pacific, Cocos, Indian-Australian, Juan de Fuca, Nazca, North American and Philippine tectonic plates.

Earthquake tremors felt in Japan
Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Japan on the occasion of New Year i.e. on 1 January. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 7.6 on the Richter scale. Because of this, a tsunami warning was also issued there. So far, more than 100 people have died due to the earthquake in Japan.
